This year marked my 6th year attending New York Fashion, which means I have been seen a total of 12 seasons. That blows my mind! I actually went back through my archives to double check this fact, which also led me to some very interesting fashion choices I made back then, but that’s for another blog post.
Anyway, I have gone to some pretty amazing shows throughout the years and always feel so blessed and lucky when the lights go down, only for them to blaze right back up again along with blaring, invigorating music and watching model after model walk down the runway.
But this season was particularly one for the books because I was asked to sit front row at the Project Runway Finale Runway Show, right across from Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen and guest judge, Carrie Underwood. It was a pretty surreal experience to say the least. What was even more fun was that since it was the finale, we saw the final collections but had no idea who designed them since it was obviously a secret because Fashion Week always occurs when there are still several unaired episodes. However, this season they only featured a handful of collections, which were presented anonymously. Such suspense! What we did know was that Mary Kay and Luis Casco were behind the amazing makeup we were seeing on the models coming down the runway.
With that said, let’s take a moment and discuss the looks. For a bit of review, you guys might remember that I worked with Mary Kay in the past and went to Dallas to tour the headquarters and learn more about the brand (see here and here). Luis himself did my makeup for the Academy of Country Music Awards show and I spent a good amount of time chatting with him about Mary Kay products, his inspiration around makeup, and tips and tricks when it comes to application. So when I was asked to cover two shows for Mary Kary in which they were the sponsor for, during September Fashion Week, (Tracy Reese and Project Runway) I was more than honored.
Luis was kind enough to break down each look for us, so let’s dive in!
