It’s getting to be that time again where it’s so cold outside that the idea of wearing anything other than fleece sweatpants, a flannel, UGGs and a huge sleeping bag coat makes me cringe. Because let’s be honest, it can be really hard to feel cute when it’s 20 degrees outside!

The thing is, I find that when it comes to my wardrobe, I don’t really ever put anything away for two reasons. One, because I don’t have the storage (welcome to, New York) and two because I never know when I might want to pull out a piece, remix it up and challenge myself to making it work during an off season.
For instance, take this lightweight shift dress (first posted here). In May or June, I’ll probably style this piece by rolling up the sleeves and pair it with a Panama hat and a pair of open-toed mule sandals. But during the colder months like February and March, I like to layer up by slipping on a turtleneck and a pair of tights underneath, with tall boots (plus the obvious coat and scarf). Et voila! I’ve easily transitioned a dress traditionally meant for warmer weather!
I guess the moral of this blog post is, with the right kind of layering, you can break away from that cozy loungewear, revamp those summery shift dresses and make them winter-chic appropriate by just a few easy steps. Woohoo!
Hope you all have a great Tuesday! xoxo
