Recently, I’ve been getting questions about who takes my photos, and who the elusive “A” is that I always mention on the blog. This particular topic came up over brunch this past weekend and after talking it over, A said that I could share one photo of him on the blog since people had asked, as long as it was not of his face. (Anyone that knows him will not be surprised by this request.)
The truth of the matter is, he really is a fairly shy and private person, and prefers me to be in front of the camera, not him. And that is perfectly fine by me seeing that this blog is actually about my style and not our relationship. (Don’t get me wrong, I love reading blogs about other people’s relationships, but that just isn’t the basis of this site.) He even told me to write that “A” stands for anonymous. How’s that for being a private person.
But in the end we compromised and both got what we wanted: I got to share a photo of him on the blog—even if it’s the back of his (cute) head—and he got his non-face shot. Win-win.
Now just for kicks, here are a few fun “A” facts:
He likes banana cream pudding, Seattle and Austin, and sky-diving.
He strongly dislikes olives. That is putting it mildly.
He is scared of spiders but would never, ever kill one.
He is an innovative, talented, smart, honest, kind and genuine person, and I feel very lucky to have him in my life. Thank you A, for taking my photos for the last year, your creative eye, and your patient manner. xoxo
Important note: I do not believe you need a photographer boyfriend to have a fashion blog. Does it make it easier sometimes? Yes. But, I took my own photos for the first year and a half of running this blog, and it taught me a lot about my skill and my ability to make things happen. Don’t get me wrong…I still have my friends or Dad (when at home in Seattle) take my photos when A is not available, but just know this: all you need is a tripod, a camera, a timer (or remote control to take multiple photos), and you are set. So go forth and photograph!
