I have always loved wearing items that weren’t necessarily designed for women because I see it as a fun styling challenge. For instance, I used to steal my Dad’s argyle sweaters and wear them with baggy jeans in the 90s, and now I snag “A’s” soft gray cardigan from time to time and slip it on over a fitted tee during the weekends.
So a few weeks ago when I was at the Chaps preview admiring this men’s cream shawl sweater and picturing all the different ways I could wear it during the chillier months, the lovely people at Chaps agreed to send one over to me and let me style it up for fun. I opted for a larger size that I normally wear for a slouchier, cozier look.
I love the shawl neck but wanted to give it some feminine charm, so I draped one of my sparkly necklaces around the collar. I can also see wearing it over a long fitted knit dress and knee high boots during the winter or over a denim shirt with shorts, come spring.
This past weekend I went to Philly with “A” to visit Kim and Brian for a fun Halloween/Birthday party (I was a cat and “A” was a werewolf) with Helena, Keiko and Natalie, and I wore it non stop. It was the perfect piece for the unexpected weather we experienced on Saturday (snow in October?!) as well as the train ride home on Sunday. xo
