Snow Days with Billabong

This past weekend was spent on the couch watching the snow fall, catching up on Grey’s Anatomy and playing with my cat. Even though I missed having Casey around (he had to fly out on Friday for a work assignment) it was a really relaxing and restful weekend.

This Billabong jacket is my new favorite winter piece. It was made for a day on the slopes but also is just perfect for walking around in a post-blizzard city. It protects again wind and snow and has all the pockets you could need. Shop more styles here! I’ve also been living in these gray fleece leggings from Target. The lining is so soft and I love the color.

How to Wear White Jeans During The Winter

Outfit Details:

I love wearing white jeans in the winter. I know for many people it goes against the age-old rule: no white past Labor Day, but I say forget that and embrace white all year round! Because if done correctly, white in the off season can look super chic and stylish.

Here are two of my go-to takeaway tips for styling white jeans during the winter:

Keep it simple: Stick with just a few colors when creating your palette. Remember you want your look to come off chic and polished. In this particular case, I opted for black, white and camel but you can also try black, white and gray, or black, white and navy, two of which are some of my favorite color combos. To top things off (if you’re feeling adventurous), add a small pop of color with a simple accessory such as a red scarf or a bright lip.

Go monochromatic: I love a white-on-white, or cream-on-white ensemble. It’s hard to go wrong with this combination because you don’t have to worry about colors clashing or any extra elements. You can also have a lot more fun with colorful accessories because your palette is so simple so the overall affect will come off looking sophisticated and timeless.

While we were taking these photos at Bryant Park, this adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel came right up to me and gave me lots of love and kisses. It made my day, plus he totally matched my outfit! :)

It’s remix time again everyone! So remember when I first styled this “confetti” sweater last week? I first paired it over a gray turtleneck sweater with OTK boots, but this time I switched it up a bit and slipped on my cognac leather pants with suede booties and my beloved Celine bag.

A Cherry Red Beanie with a Pom On Top!

How was everyone’s weekend? I just got back from spending the last three days in Lake Chelan, which is a fun little town in the north-central part of Washington, where a huge group of us celebrated Winterfest. (You can check out a couple of photos on my Instagram.) It was super relaxing and so much fun to spend time with good friends. What did you guys do?

The Confetti Tweed Sweater

I recently snagged this cozy knit on sale at Aritzia and was not only taken with the color and slouchiness, but also with the description. The brand labeled it a “confetti tweed sweater,” which I thought was pretty genius. I mean how fun and festive is that?! I pretty much lived in it for a few days after buying it and know it will continue to be the perfect sweater for the upcoming winter months.

That said, when I shot this outfit, it was on one of those weird warm days the east coast has been experiencing here and there, so I actually didn’t need a coat or tights! Pretty crazy for January, right?

I layered the sweater over a gray turtleneck dress that I bought a couple of years ago from Reformation and topped the look off with my beloved Schutz OTK boots and my new oxblood bag, complimenting my lipstick in the process. :)

Outfit Remix: ASTR Shift Dress

Outfit Details:

I used to do a lot of remixes on the blog and realized that I need to bring that back, so today’s remix is all about and my new ASTR dress. I wanted to show how you can wear it two different ways (even when it’s chilly outside) by simply switching out just a few pieces.

I first wore this dress in yesterday’s post with a black turtleneck underneath, but today’s post is all about layering over the top with a sleeveless chunky knit.

My Favorite Winter Layering Pieces

Remember how I wrote a post on winterizing your spring and summery dresses? Well I recently got this dress from Nordstrom and thought it would be fun to take my own advice and style it up with a turtleneck and tights, completely transforming it into a cold weather look!

Two cold weather takeaway tips:

When it comes to tights: opt for a fleece-lined pair, which makes all the difference when wearing skirts and dresses during the winter.
Check out Uniqlo for heat-tech tops to layer with. Their turtlenecks are guaranteed to keep you toasty!
