As almost all of you know, last week was a rough one. Barney, our family dog passed away, so I decided I needed to take a few days off and just focus on the fact that it was Casey’s Birthday. Luckily I had something planned every night starting Wednesday (his actual Birthday), which really took my mind off things, and we went full steam ahead until Sunday evening…
Blue Note
Outfit Details:
Lipstick / Shirt (see more options below) / Jeans / Bag / Shoes (similar style)
Side note: I found this button down at Forever 21, but the only issue when shopping in the store versus online is sometimes I can’t find what I bought to share with you all! I have been searching and searching on the website but can’t seem to locate this top. So instead, I picked a bunch of similar styles that I like so hopefully you can recreate this outfit if you like it!
Happy shopping! xo
On Rotation: The Usual Suspects
Been living in this Panama Hat from J.Crew
I’ve found that I have been wearing a few favorites this summer, so I thought I would just go back over some of the pieces that have been on constant rotation over the past couple months.
This Madewell Tote has been awesome – it carries a lot but still looks classic and chic.
It’s hard to run around the city in heels, so I find that a comfy pair of loafers or Birkenstocks become my best friend. Also, oversized sunglasses are awesome, especially when you are tired because they cover up half your face!

And last but not least, a classic white button down has become a go-to for me because it goes with everything. I can’t wait to layer this shirt under a cute sweater and a pair of skinny jeans for a cute autumn ensemble. xo
The Nolitan Hotel
I recently spent some time at the lovely Nolitan Hotel in Nolita and immediately fell in love. The rooms are bright and cheery with great views and some even have little balconies looking out over Kenmare Street. The lobby is super stylish, complete with leather couches, bicycles and funky lighting. I wanted to sit there all day in one of the large oversized leather chairs and just read the paper. If you need a great place to stay in the city, I definitely recommend checking out this cute little spot.

How To Wear A Blazer Vest
I’ve been wearing sleeveless blazer vests for a while now and have always felt like they are extremely versatile and the perfect piece to throw on over anything. So when Le Tote asked me to style this vest by BB Dakota, I couldn’t wait. I kept the look simple by wearing black, white and neutral pieces, which kept the overall outfit chic yet still classic and easy to wear.
Outfit Details:
Vest: BB Dakota (via Le Tote) / Tank: Club Monaco (old) / Jeans: Forever 21 / Shoes: Zara / Bag: Celine

The Weekly Edit: Shirt Dresses
Yesterday’s post was all about how to layer when it’s extremely hot outside, (which I know sounds a little crazy – you can read my reasoning here), but I promise that when it is boiling out, you’re going to be slightly uncomfortable in whatever you have on, so why not have a little fun with it!
For me, the flowy shirt dress is my go-to when it’s sweltering outside because of its loose fit and the fact that it’s easy to style. So, I thought I would make this week’s Weekly Edit (shop my Nordstrom Anniversary picks here!) all about my favorite lightweight shirt dresses!

How To Layer When It’s 95 Degrees Outside
On Sunday, Casey and I met up with friends at The Standard Beer Garden in the Meatpacking District. Even in the late afternoon, it was still 95 degrees outside, which is crazy and you feel like you want to just walk around in a bathing suit. But after battling extreme heat day after day, I get pretty tired of just wearing the same shapeless sundress or basic tank and shorts. I want to still attempt to look stylish even if it’s roasting outside!
So I decided to take it up a notch and actually style myself despite the sweltering weather. I was hot, but because this white lightweight sheath of a dress is so breathable and flowy it allowed for my skin to breathe and not feel smothered. I wore a silky slip underneath since the top layer is see-through and belted it to create a more shapely silhouette.
Now onto the hair. When you have long hair and you wear it down when it’s hot, it can really add extra heat. So I always make sure to whip my hair up into either a messy bun or milkmaid braids (watch my tutorial here!) so that I still feel cute without my neck feeling like I’m wearing an unnecessary summer scarf.
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and here’s to a productive and happy week! xo

Vintage Havana Floral Romper
Finally sharing this romper with you guys, which was one of the items I scooped up during a recent Bloomingdales shopping haul. This one piece is great because it’s so easy to style – you just have to be a bit mindful of the top portion because it falls open, potentially leaving you quite exposed if you’re not careful! My quick remedy was to just slip on a black bandeau (you could also do a tank) and you’re all set!
