Furry Plaid

I wore this sweater to the Banana Republic 2015 Spring Preview yesterday and didn’t even need a jacket, it was that warm. It’s the kind of piece that I love because it’s so cozy and fuzzy but also makes me laugh because of it’s furriness, and ability to make me look like I’m wearing shoulder pads even though I’m not. I picked it up at Zara in the kids section for about $40 and decided to give it a whirl. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

Also, I am so over the moon about my wavy hair. TRESemmé did the hair for the preview so they were kind enough to send over one of their stylists (thank you Johanna!) to give my hair a morning mini makeover before I headed to the presentation. I am hoping the waves last me at least a few days!

MSP Styles: Eddie Bauer Buffalo Check Plaid

Hello, and happy FRIDAY! This weekend is going to be a packed one for me, with lots of friends visiting from out of town, house parties and dinners – it’s going to be busy but I can’t wait! Plus it’s supposed to be sunny, which is a plus, seeing how rainy and gloomy it was yesterday.

In other news, let’s talk about how much I love this bright and cheery red vest and black and red flannel that I’m wearing. I’ve noticed that I am really drawn to Buffalo Plaid lately and am starting to see quite a collection of similar pieces in my closet. I actually just bought this jacket at a sample sale and recently wore this red and black plaid shirt coat while up in Warwick a few weeks ago.

Anyway, my vest and shirt are both from Eddie Bauer, a brand I grew up being very familiar with, especially since I’m from Seattle where flannels, plaids and puffy vests were, and are still very key pieces to us Pacific Northwest folk. :) So when the brand asked me to style up a couple of their clothing, I decided to show how to mix more casual, outdoorsy pieces with slightly more streamlined black pants and knee high boots. Voila, chic and cozy!

They even had a Twitter-activated vending machine, which dispensed gifts, products, and discount promotions and will be doing so for the next two weeks to anyone who shares on social while in the store using @eddiebauer and #liveyouradventure. My tweet had to do with attempting to ski diamond runs with my Dad. Quite an adventure if you ask me! xo

Outfit Remix: SOREL Style, Three Ways

As a girl from the Pacific Northwest, always having the appropriate footwear and outerwear to face the elements was deeply ingrained in me. Whether it was a good rain jacket or a pair of sturdy boots to handle whatever weather was happening outside, I made sure I had what I needed. Then I moved to New York where there wasn’t as much rain, but definitely harsh winters with snow and ice. I quickly realized that my choice of rain boot wasn’t going to cut it anymore, so I purchased myself a pair of classic SOREL ‘Caribou’ boots. My feet have never been happier during the months of December through March. Yes, March. Believe it or not, there is still a chance of major slush on the ground in New York until the early spring. :/

Anyway, a couple weeks back, when SOREL approached me about partnering together to show how I might style a few pairs of boots from their new fall and winter selections, I was all in. I took a look at the brand’s newer, lighter weight styles and was really pleased with what I found. Below are my top three favorite pairs and how I plan to wear them over the next handful of months.

Cabin Cozy

Now that the winter months are here, it’s time for me to start doubling up on moisturizing. I’ve talked about it before on the blog, but I have really sensitive and dry skin and have had times where my skin is so itchy it’s unbearable. I try all sorts of products, but in the end I usually go back to tried and true brands that I grew up with. I use Vaseline products at home for my lips and hands, but when the brand contacted me to talk about how I stay moisturized this winter, and if I would give their body lotion a try, I was all for it.

A couple weekends ago, I was up near Leavenworth for a wedding and the cabins were super warm and toasty, while the weather outside was cold, damp and rainy. The combination and back and forth change in temperature can really do a number on your skin, but luckily I brought my Vaseline_® Intensive Care^TM Advanced Repair Fragrance Free Lotion with me and used it everyday, in the morning and evening. I’ll say that it was my saving grace, because I don’t think my skin would have looked half as good for the wedding without it! The lotion has been designed to combat dry skin with a special blend of humectants (to draw water into the skin), and healing micro-droplets of Vaseline_® Jelly (to lock moisture in).

P.S. Have you guys had GODIVA Hot Chocolate? I brought some with me (I like to add it to my morning coffee) and made in my personalized My Style Pill mug, which made it taste even better. :) xo

Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm

A couple weeks ago, Casey and I took a trip up to Warwick (thanks to Ford, who helped us get there by loaning us a sweet ride) where we visited Applewood Orchards for an afternoon. The next day we drove down to meet up with the crew from Hudson Jeans for another fun fall day full of apple picking, cider drinking and picture taking. We also left with two mighty fine looking pumpkins to carve because apparently Casey is a master carver, so we shall see.

I can’t seem to get enough of the fall foliage this year and so yet again, I give you a post that is very photo heavy. But I hope you love looking at these pretty autumn leaves and colors as much as I do. The season is so fleeting, I want to make sure I soak it in as much as I can.

Toggle, Toggle

The past couple weekends I have been lucky enough to experience New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts in the fall and see beautiful foliage, stay in quaint homes and pick apples from adorable orchards. I look at my photos afterward and am so blown away at the scenery I get to experience and love being able to share it with you guys on the blog. Needless to say, I don’t take it for granted!

So seeing that it’s now mid-October, I’ve slowly been breaking out my sweaters and boots, but was finally able to rock an actual coat not to long ago. The one above happens to be by Lands’ End, who I have worked with in the past, if you remember this post, and am now styling up their black wool, basket-weave toggle coat for fall. In the case of this outfit, I loved mixing brown and black together and thought the black leather pants and the preppy printed sweater and black wool jacket created a nice juxtaposition all together. What do you think of this coat? Would you wear it, and if so, how would you style it? xo
