Desk to Drinks: Crop Top Style!

With summer literally around the corner, I have been experimenting with integrating crop tops into my rotation. The funny thing is, if you had asked me about crop tops about ten years ago, I would have called them my “going out” tops. Who’s with me here?

But nowadays, I wear a cropped top in style, preferably with a high waisted skirt or a pair of wide legged denim. In this case, I created an outfit that was inspired by a desk to dinner situation where I had to dress up for a meeting uptown but had a happy hour immediately afterward downtown with friends.

The solution? Pair this summery crop with a high waisted denim pencil skirt, add a simple yet stylish white blazer to wear during the meeting, and then remove it later on to archieve a more playful and relaxed look. And of course, a pop of red lipstick never hurt anyone!

Floral Spring Romper!

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! So today’s post is all about celebrating spring (check out the video version here) and the fact that it was warm enough to wear this cute red floral romper from Forever 21. Yippee!

Although it was really warm the last few days, it’s still typical spring weather where it can unexpectedly cool down throughout the day. So I layered a bit by slipping on this trench vest and opted for little booties over sandals to make sure I didn’t get too chilly as the day went on.

STYLING TIP:

If you can’t find a trench vest that you like, make your own by doing it yourself. Either use an old trench you have and don’t really wear anymore or buy an inexpensive version like this one from Forever 21 and cut the sleeves off! Voila, your very own trench vest!

Remix: Two Striped Tops, Two Different Outfits

Hello everyone! So, today’s post is all about how to wear stripes for different occasions. I love doing remixes, and usually I would have created two different outfits around one striped top, but instead I decided to keep the basic “bones” of each look very similar (i.e. black skirt, heels, a jacket) and just change up the type of striped top I wore for the two ensembles. I did wear the same black skirt, so I guess you could technically say it’s a black skirt remix! You’re getting quite the bargain today, guys! Kidding. :)

How To Incorporate Color Into Your Outfit!

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great week so far. So, I posted a video yesterday on my YouTube channel sharing how I incorporate color into my outfit. If bright colors intimidate you a bit, fear not, this video will give you some quick pointers on how to infuse them into you look, three different ways:

1. Feeling bold? Choose a bright blouse if you really want to go for it and embrace wearing color!

2. Opt for a bright bag and keep everything else neutral. Tip: Make sure you put your wallet and whatever else you need into a simple clutch inside your bag, so that if you decide the bright color is a bit too much for you halfway through the day, you can set your bag down, take out what you need and the purse doesn’t have to be a part of your outfit if you don’t want it to be.

3. Still a little unsure about bright statement accessories? Try wearing a printed or colorful scarf that can be put on or taken off whenever you feel like it. That way you don’t have to feel too committed to wearing it all day.

YouTube Tuesday: Weekend Wear, Dallas Edition!

Hey guys and happy Tuesday! Today’s post is all about what I wore down to Dallas this past weekend! I went courtesy of Mary Kay, to learn more about the brand, visit their headquarters and attend the 50th Anniversary of the ACM awards! (They were one of the official sponsors.)

For those of you that follow me on YouTube (you can subscribe here!) I made a packing video last week, which shared everything I brought with me on this trip, and I mentioned I was going to share the outfits I wore. I didn’t get as much footage as I wanted because the trip was such a whirlwind and we got caught in a tornado watch!!! But at least I was able to document (both on video and in photographs) two different looks, one of which I wore to the awards ceremony!

I wore this dress by Donna Morgan to the ACM red carpet and awards ceremony. My earrings are from Bauble Bar, my shoes are from Schutz and my bag is from UGG. Luis Casco from Project Runway did my makeup and the lovely girls from Era Salon styled my hair! They did such an amazing job, I felt so glamorous! :)

I have owned this gorgeous silk shift dress, which was a gift from Calypso, for months now but it has just been too darn cold to wear it! So I was over the moon that I finally was able to in Dallas this past weekend. I wore this look to my meeting at the Mary Kay offices and then to lunch afterwards.

(Side note: Make sure to wear a slip underneath this silky white sheath because it’s pretty see through!)

These are my vintage cowboy boots! I’ve owned them forever but never really wear them.

I think I need a sleek black pair. Wouldn’t those look amazing with black ripped jeans and a leather jacket? Yesss. If you guys know of a great place to buy vintage boots, let me know!
