Video: Easy Summer Makeup!
Hello loves! So it reached over 100 degrees here in New York yesterday and because of that it pretty much feels impossible to wear anything other than a tank top and jeans and super minimal makeup. Because of the intense heat, I came up with a really quick summer makeup routine that makes me feel pulled together but still allows my skin to breathe aka sweat haha. I explained my process below, but if you have any questions at all, please leave them in the comments below and I will get back to you asap! Click here to see more of my YouTube videos!
Products Used In Order:
I LOVE these wipes and always use them when I want to freshen up my face quickly.
2. Eau Thermale Avene / Thermal Spring Water
Lately I have really been into spritzing my face with thermal water to hydrate and cool off my skin after cleansing. It feels so refreshing!
3. This Works Light Time Skin Plump
I just started using this product and love it. It plumps and hydrates, and works well with my sensitive skin.
4. Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
I heard about this product because everyone was raving about it so I gave it a try. Definitely loving it because of the coconut oil and the way it makes my skin feel. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be hungover to use it. :)
5. Être Belle Cosmetics Golden Skin Roll-on Caviar Eye Gel
I love this eye gel because the rollerball is cool and soothing on my eyes, especially in the morning. Plus it calms my under eye and helps with applying the next product.
6. Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector
This stuff is amazing. When I don’t want to wear a ton of concealer but want to even out my dark under eye circles, it works wonders.
This stuff is great at evening out the slight redness I get on my nose and cheeks. I love how these two products work together to help even out my skin without making me feel like I’m covering my face in a ton of makeup.
8. Bare Minerals Bare Skin Serum Bronzer
I just dab a bit of this on my face to add a bit on color on my face without having to apply powder, bronzer or blush. Works great!
9. The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder Flash Illuminator Fluid Powder & 10. Sephora Collection Pro Featherweight Fan Brush #92
I got this at an event and have been using it ever since. I have also been using it as an alternative for a shimmery eyeshadow, which is really fun. Overall, this product gives off a great glow/sheen and it applies super easily, especially with the #92 brush.
11. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
If you guys have been following me for a while you all know how much I LOVE this mascara. In this video I quickly show the difference between one eye with it on and the other with nothing and it’s like night and day! Also, I wanted to say that I usually skip eyeliner when it’s super hot because I just feel like it’s one more step and I will probably smudge it somehow when I’m sweating down inside the subway.
12. Cover Girl x Katy Perry Lipstick in Cat Call
I have a bunch of her lipsticks (I even met her – she’s super nice!) and really like the colors and how they are easy to apply. This color (Cat Call) is the perfect summer pink!
MSP Talks Beauty: My Daily Makeup Routine
This year, I’ve decided I want to create more beauty-related posts. I have my go-to products that I always use, but I am also always experimenting with new shadows, lipsticks, face creams and perfumes. And because I love trying new things, I enjoy it when other people share their new favorite items too. It informs and inspires me as to what else is out there in the beauty world, so hopefully I can do the same for you! (You can find all the products listed in order at the bottom of the post in order of how they are photographed.)
Above, are the contents of my makeup bag. Not the most organized, but I just transferred everything over to this new wide zip case and it makes finding things so much easier. My beauty routine is actually pretty quick and can be done in under ten minutes.
Step 1: First I clean my face, using either these MAC wipes or Clé de Peau Cleansing Foam, then make sure to always moisturize. I love using Restorsea or Olay face cream for daily use.
Step 2: Next I use Stila’s CC Color Correcting Stick to even out my skin a bit before applying Clé de Peau concealer. I either use my fingertip and lightly tap all along the skin underneath my eye to blend it, or I use the thin silver brush you see in the picture below.
Step 3: Then I combine Dior Hydra Life BB Cream with By Terry foundation for a natural look that feels light but still offers substantial coverage.
Step 4: I have started to get really into brushes. The right ones make such a difference. I also love these compacts by MAC. I begin by dusting my face with this powder (top left). Then I contour my cheekbones with a darker pressed powder (top right) using the brush on the far right. After I apply my blush, I finish up with this sheer highlighting powder, using an angled brush (shown above, second in from the left).
Step 5: Eyeshadow time! I usually combine a few different shades together to create a customized color depending on my outfit, mood or time of day. Lately I’ve been mixing and matching colors from these palettes by NARS, Estee Lauder and Stila.
Step 6: If I take the time to do my makeup and then forget to put on mascara or fill in my brows, I feel like I look incomplete. So, the key essentials for me are eyeliner, brow pencil and mascara. And just for good measure, I always keep this little bottle of Santal 33 perfume in my bag, along with this amazing little anti-aging eye and lip compact by La Prairie, and usually some color of nail polish (big fan of the brand Julep) for emergency touch ups.
Step 7: And lastly, the cherry on the sundae, lipstick! Right now I’m obsessed with By Terry in Carnal Attraction, MAC in Viva Glam 1 and By Terry in Fanatic Red.
And there you have it! My beauty routine in under ten steps. Now I’d love to hear what your favorite go-to products are that you can’t live without. Leave your thoughts in the comment section below! xo

Beauty Routine, Part 3: Brows
I think I first had my brows done when I was in college and went to my mom’s hair dresser who waxed them into shape. I would occasionally tweeze them myself and experimented with a few different salons in college until I moved to New York and my boyfriend at the time introduced me to threading.
Current day: I still get my brows threaded but now only go to Shobha and pretty much will only let Anjali (the brow master, I swear) touch them. She actually moved my brow arch over, reshaped them but managed to still keep the same shape and length. For a finishing touch, she colors them in a bit with Shobha’s eyebrow pencil in Sand. Another product that I swear by. I. Love. Her. If you are looking for a brow makeover but are nervous to put them in someone else’s hands, trust me on this one. She is truly talented. Go. Now.

Beauty Routine, Part 2: Hair Care
BEFORE:
AFTER:
I’ll admit, I’m a tad late in posting about my amazing hair cut that I was lucky enough to have at the chic ION Salon in Soho—seeing that I am probably due for a tiny trim by now—but I just had to make sure I shared my experience with you guys.
I first found out about it thanks to my good friend, Carolyn from The Daily Obsession (click the link to see a photo of the gorgeous space) when she recommended I try it out. It was wonderful, down to the front desk service, the tasty cappuccino, the head massage and my very talented hair stylist, Diaz. He understood my vision, which was really just to give my hair some more “umph” without doing anything drastic. We had a great time just chatting about fashion week while he worked his magic. To see more of his work, click here! Thanks Diaz! xoxo
P.S. Next up, eyebrow care! Stay tuned…
Beauty Routine, Part 1: Skin Care
Ever since I was a little girl, my Mom stressed the importance of taking good care of my skin. Needless to say she looks about 10 years younger than she actually is, and that is because she takes immaculate care of her skin. So now, seeing that I am getting older, I have been trying to take better care of the one and only face I’ve got. I decided to share what I use and would love to get some more suggestions and tips on what you guys use and love! Please do share!
My Beauty Routine, Part 1:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (not shown): I use this in the shower before I apply any toners or lotions. My skin is super sensitive and dry, but this cleanser keeps my face soft and moisturized.
{shown clockwise}
Shobha Rosewater Toner Mist: Smells amazing and preps your skin before applying any other face lotions or primers.
Dove Ultimate Go Fresh Revive Deodorant in Pomegranate: I was given this at a Dove event and fell in love with its sweet, yet still very fresh scent.
Shobha Rosewater Freshening Cloths: I can’t swear by these enough. They do wonders in a pinch and feel especially amazing on your face and neck if you keep them chilled in the fridge.
Kiehl’s UV Protective Suncare Sunscreen Cream, SPF 20: A thin layer of sunscreen under primer or foundation is the best for your skin, and protects it against the elements.
Sephora’s FACE Eye Makeup Remover: I don’t know what I would do without a gentle makeup remover to erase the inevitable under eye smudge of mascara that shows up after washing I wash my face.
NP Set Pre-Foundation Bronzing Primer: I learned about primer from Keiko, and soon after recieved this product from my friend Carolyn. I don’t usually apply full bronzer to my face, but luckily it still works regardless if I add a little tan or not.
Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference: My Mom bought me this face cream and I love the thick and buttery texture it has, which leaves my skin silky smooth.
