Girl Crushing

Yesterday, I had a lovely little brunch with this lovely little lady (above). I will admit that I have had a major girl crush on Lucy forever, so when we finally met, it was all I could do but to squeal and knock her over with a huge hug. (Yes, I am a nerd.)

Regardless, we had  a great time gabbing over coffee and crepes, and of course about all the blogs we loved. She asked if I read 9 to 5 Chic, and I admitted that I had never heard of it before (sometimes I think I must live under a rock) but immediately checked it out on my phone and fell head over heels. Needless to say I now have a new crush (don’t worry Lucy, I still heart you, and Olivia P.) and plan to stalk her blog archives because her outfits are just that good.

I cannot tell a lie. This outfit (and hair) was once again inspired by the stylish Blair, of Atlantic-Pacific. I put my own spin on this ensemble, but what drew me to this look in the first place was the buttoned-up blouse and how she paired it with something as simple a basic gray crewneck sweater creating a chic, ladylike combination.

But last weekend when I walked into the bedroom, wearing my blouse buttoned up all the way with my bejeweled neck decoration tied just so that it fell right beneath the collar, and asked A what he thought, he looked at me and said, “What’s up man-shirt.” Men and women really do have different ideas about what’s stylish. Le sigh.

But, I can’t really complain, because lucky for me, A does in fact recognize when something is stylish in the fashion world even when/if it’s not his favorite thing in “real life.” In the end, I do my best to always try and mix it up to create a happy medium.

I’m curious…does your boyfriend ever balk at anything you wear?

***Disclaimer: Don’t worry, A is extremely supportive and always makes it clear that he does not care what I wear as long as it makes me happy, but that if I ask his opinion on an outfit, he will always tell me his honest opinion no matter what. Gotta love an honest guy. :)

Sporting my very first DVF piece, courtesy of the StyleList Network (and fellow DVF launch partner), which I fantasize about wearing later this summer, unbuttoned and worn over my blue and white striped bikini while lounging at the beach. Aaaand, we’re back to reality.
I played around with this top for a while until I came up with an outfit I felt was right. Originally opting for a preppy look—white jeans and blue blazer—at the last minute, I decided to change it up and go with a more Victorian feel. I like the buttoned up, covered up look that still remains stylish yet structured with a romantic twist.

P.S. I am officially enamoured with the blog Atlantic-Pacific. I will admit that I couldn’t help myself, and pulled multiple (upon multiple photos) from her site onto my desktop to pop into my outfit inspiration folder. I loved how she styled this very skirt I’m wearing in the photo above. Check it out here!

My Outfit Remix: Splurge Dress

So, I am frantically trying to get all my work done so that I can have a nice and relaxing evening with Krystal, full of lots of laughs, good wine and yummy food. Since today, most of my work consists of sitting in front of my computer, and I don’t have a whole lot of reason to leave the house, I decided to get dressed in my outfit for tonight early on and snap a photo of it before the light went away. This is my splurge dress and like I said before, I plan on wearing it many different ways so I feel like I am getting bang for my buck. And so I give you, the outfit of the evening. The blouse underneath is the same top I wore here. Right now I am getting away without wearing tights, but I think when later on I will slip on some sheer black nylons and actually wear the leather jacket that is in my hand.

**After uploading this photo, I realized that I am totally doing a pose that is reminiscent of Krystal’s blogging pose, without even meaning to! I always think she looks great, so I guess imitation really is the greatest form of flattery!**
