Don’t you love this girl’s bright, cheery merigold-colored scarf? And, check out the scarf in the last image. The photograph was shot for Martha Stewart’s Blueprint magazine, where I used to work before it closed (so sad). The scarf is mine actually, and was thrown in for fun. I loved it then and it still continues to be my go-to accessory. I think what I love the most about it is it’s rich, bold color that somehow goes with everything. What do you think about the color marigold, or yellow for that matter? And, need I point out the touch of nerd chic in the top two photos? I didn’t think so… SPxx

I just started blogging for this new fashion site called Budget Fashion Report and two of my posts went live today! Check out my post about Foley + Corinna here, and my post about stylish steals here! On another note, isn’t this photo fantastic. I keep going back to it over and over again. I am so intrigued by her, and just adore her outfit. The Sartorialist does it again!
Thanks again for reading, my lovelies. You guys are the best! SPxx

I am so unbelievably happy it is Friday. Maybe by the time next Monday rolls around, I will start to fall back into my normal routine. I always find it so tough to come back and regulate after having a lovely two weeks off. Anyway, here are some of my favorite pictures from around the web today. Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday sweets! (And, if you are in New York, be prepared…it is supposed to snow tomorrow!)

As I walked out of the subway this morning little snow flurries landed on my face and hair, and as I hurried into work, hands slightly chapped, I thought, “I can’t even remember what New York felt like when it was warm!” New York is funny that way. The different climates are so dramatic: they’ll throw you head first into a heatwave or an ice storm without a second thought. So, inevitably, whether it is 13 degrees with wind chill or 92 degrees with humidity, each time the weather changes, I become vacant of any memories of what it felt like before. That was the case today. So, I decided to focus on the upcoming warmer seasons; I did a little perusing on J.Crew and began creating an outfit around my very favorite shirt: the Solid Kya Cami. Isn’t it so pretty? Love the ruffles. Anyway, as much as I love J. Crew, it tends to be a little out of my price range at times, and coupled with the fact that it is going to snow on Saturday, I doubt I will be donning these particular pieces for quite some time. But, like I said—a girl can dream.

This morning I was browsing through my favorite blogs and came across this fantastic post on the lovely Cupcakes and Cashmere. I first fell in love with Kerri Russel back in 1998—as a fresh-faced seventeen-year-old—and would wait patiently for Felicity to come on each week. I coveted her hair, loved her on-screen boyfriend, Noel, and envied the fact that she lived in New York City. She has come quite a ways since those days, yet she has maintained her fresh appeal and effortless beauty…seriously effortless! Anyway, these photos of her in the January In Style are amazing, not to mention the clothes she is wearing. I want every single article of clothing and accessory. Am I gushing too much? I can’t help it. Above, are my two favorites. Click here to see the rest!
P.S. I am now coveting her huge scarf. Amazing.

OMG.
So, it’s nearing the end of the day and I felt like adding this little piece of eye candy for your viewing pleasure. I am pretty much obsessed with Mackage and have been ever since I first got my very own gorgeous cream coat in the winter of 2004. I have yet to buy another but endlessly peruse ebay and online stores looking for any that might be on sale. Today, I went to the their website and saw the Mackage Doddy jacket. Such a little beauty. It may not be made of wool and leather, but it sure is cute and the price tag is a little easier to digest. Don’t you just love the collar and puffed sleeves? And look at that side zipper detailing? I love me some zipper detailing…
Enjoy, my friends! SPxx

Last night, as I was waiting for my friend LC to get off work, I stopped into American Apparel to kill some time. I have been eyeing their Nylon Tricot Figure Skater Dress for quite some time now and even designed an outfit around it, but had never actually tried it on…mostly because I was convinced it would look quite ridiculous on me. Well, this time around, I gave it shot. I unsheathed myself of my many winter layers and slipped on a bright magenta version of the short, slightly high-waisted shiny dress, and come to find out, was pleasantly surprised! I didn’t look like a complete freak, and the salesgirl even complimented me on how it looked! (Well, in retrospect, she was probably just doing her job, but still.) I was pleased, and think I will go purchase it this weekend. And, seeing that I am going to opt for magenta versus charcoal, I decided to go with a different look than the one I created before. I think I will play up the bright color and make it more flirty and fun!
Now tell me, what do you think of this dress? Would you ever wear it? What is your favorite flirty or sassy dress? SPxx
