Oh, Yigal, how I love your clothes.

Imagine this: Me, sitting in front of my computer, face inches away from the screen, ogling each and every one of Yigal Azrouel’s pieces from his fall 2009 RTW collection. Yes, that’s right. I probably looked ridiculous to anyone walking by but let me just say it was extremely necessary. Each and every piece from Azrouel’s collection needed to be examined and studied because of the interesting detail and materials used. Not only that, I found it so refreshing to see clothing that you would actually wear, hence the pretense “Ready To Wear” that is not in fact always delivered. And so, below, I have carefully chosen my favorite looks to share with you. And, let me just say, I fully agree with Julia Stegner’s wish list items, one of which is Azrouël’s leather jacket (shown above).

P.S. Don’t you love his hair? And that face, so handsome. :)

My new favorite pieces.

I wore an outfit very similar to this over the weekend while I was in Chicago, and had so much fun pairing rich and dark colors like chocolate brown, navy blue, and jet black with lighter colors like cream and gray. I am particularly in love with my new scarf, shown above, that I bought at Urban Outfitters. I bought a similiar coat to this one at Forever 21, and feel like a pretty princess every time I slip it on because of the ruffly flair that happens at the bottom when I belt the waist. Stripes in my opnion, are timeless, as are solid accessories like a watch you love and sunglasses that make you feel like a rock star. (Side Note: these of course vary from person to person, so have fun with it!) And, well, in my mind, gray skinny jeans go with almost eveything. They are neutral enough to blend but stand out from the basic blue. Lastly, if you have read this blog or know anything about me, you will know how I feel about brown oxfords. These pair from U.O. are particularly lovely. And, to put the cherry on my shoe sundae, they are on sale. What more could I ask for?! SPxx

Wistful.

This photo makes me feel all sorts of nostalgic. The background reminds me of my grandparents driveway and neighborhood back in the early 80’s in Riverside, CA. Yes, I know there are no palm trees, but there is something about the color of the dry, tan ground, the hazy pale blue sky, and the general essence of the photo that brings me back to my childhood summers spent running around on their lawn. I also love her shorts, sweater and glasses. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for some cool, jean shorts, but cannot bring myself to pay $50 at Urban Outfitters to obtain this goal. So, still on the lookout, but I do know that where I can purchase a rad vintage sweater like that. And, I can easily pop over to St. Mark’s in the east village to pick up some hip sunglasses like these. Ah, the days of summer…won’t you please come soon? SPxx

I headed to Chicago early this morning to spend the long weekend here with a person who is very dear to me. We are going to get all dressed up tomorrow night and go out for dinner, drinks and dancing! I can’t wait! What are you up to for Valentine’s Day, my sweets?

The amazing Shashi!

Me, happy as a clam.

Today I went and got my brows done. Finally. I will admit that they were quite botched due to a previous experience at a place I went to a few weeks ago, so I was in desperate need of being fixed. So, at the recommendation of my darling twin friends, H and J, I went to the Shobha to get them back on the right track. Shashi was my specialist and I am officially in love. She is not only amazing at threading, but she is an expert at knowing how to shape your brows so that they are even and perfect for your face. I am a little too embarrased to put up a photo of how my brows looked before, so I hope you don’t mind that I am only posting a couple “after” pictures. I feel so much cleaner, prettier and well-groomed now, thanks to the wonderful work of Shashi from Shobha! Thanks again! And, if you live in New York, click here to find a salon near you!

Betty’s outfit of the day. Yum.

I am a big fan of black and gold, but have realized I also love black and silver. And, gray for that matter. This outfit that Betty, of Le Blog de Betty, has created is fantastic.
