It was so frigid this weekend that every once in a while it was necessary to duck inside somewhere to warm up. At one point, we ended up in one of my favorite bookstore in Nolita where you can browse books for hours, find cute and unique cards, or sip coffee at their cafe.

After leaving there and being outside in the cold for a mere ten minutes, we needed a bit of reprieve from the cold again, so we boutique hopped for a bit until we finally settled at a nearby cafe with friends for wine and cheese.

We ended the evening by having friends over for girl talk and take-out. I’ve gotta say, this weekend was fantastic, with the perfect amount of going out and staying in. Hope you all had a fantastic couple days as well and happy Monday! xo

feeling leggy

As someone who doesn’t go into an office every day, I am usually running around the city, balancing appointments, client styling sessions and random errands, so it’s important that I dress for comfort and style. That said, I am always looking for that perfect combination to have as my daily uniform, which as of late, has involved some sort of legging, oversized tee and a chic boot for a pulled together feel. Since I love trying out different versions of this look, I gave these Denim Leggings by No nonsense a whirl. I was impressed by how soft they were, while also giving my outfit a classic and streamlined look. And the fact that I can easily pick up another pair at my local drug store for $15 a pop (in multiple colors, no less) is a win-win situation in my book!

This past Saturday started out wet and a little dreary, which always calls for a cozy and comfy outfit. So, I brought out my trusty Danskos, piled on the layers, and took a brisk stroll around the neighborhood with my Godmother, who was in town visiting from Seattle.

I am a girl who is constantly cleaning out her closet. My Paper Doll: Winter Layering With Vests

I’ll admit I am a bag girl through and through. But another weakness of mine in the closet department, is coats and jackets. I have quite a few ranging from puffy, insulated and practical to thin, unlined and stylish, which let’s be honest, the latter description isn’t always useful when it comes to the harsh winter weather we experience here in New York. What ends up happening instead is, most of my light to mid-weight coats only get worn during spring and fall, and then hang idly in the closet, until it warms up again. It feels like such a waste. Then recently, one of my clients and I came across these amazing and super thin Ultra Light Down Vests and Jackets by Uniqlo. Life changing. Seriously. All of a sudden, I was able to wear some of my favorite jackets that previously had left me freezing in the winter, simply by slipping on one of these feather-weight babies underneath my favorite overcoat. I highly suggest you check them out – they really do make a difference.
