Spent this past weekend in New Orleans (more on that part of the trip later this week) and then headed out to Orange Beach in Alabama to be with friends for Hang Out Fest. It was an absolute blast. I’m about to hop in the car and head back to Louisiana so I’ll keep it short and let the pictures do the talking. Hope y’all had a great past few days! xo
Pledge to Switch
Now that I am in my early 30s, I have really started to think about how I want to take care of myself and the changes I want to make to live a healthier lifestyle. There are a million things I know I should be better about (drinking more water, wearing sunscreen daily, flossing more regularly, to name a few) but the one thing that my Grandmother and Mother always told me was that it was important to take care of my skin. Not just my face, but my whole body. I’ll admit, I have gotten much better at taking my makeup off before I go to bed and moisturizing my face two times a day. But, I neglect the rest of my skin as far as moisturizing goes. The problem that I have aways found, is my skin is extremely dry and sensitive, and I’ve had far too many experiences where it will get super itchy after using the wrong body wash or lotion.
However, now that summer is right around the corner and I plan to be in a bathing suit for most of it, I no longer can hide behind an excuse not to take care of my skin head to toe. That said, I’ve decided to make a pledge and switch from not using any type of body moisturizer to making a conscious effort to do so everyday. It may not seem like a hard task, but habits are hard to break. I just have to keep reminding myself that I don’t want to have scaly, wrinkly, dry skin as I get older so I’m tackling the issue now and giving it my best shot! I now encourage you all to make a pledge of your own! What healthier choices do you want to make in your life?

Always love visiting this quirky park on East 9th street.
Finished up the weekend with a yummy dinner at The Wayland. If you ever are in the area, you should definitely swing in and treat yourself to a very cool drink they offer called “I Hear Banjos – encore!” It’s made with apple pie moonshine, rye whiskey, house apple-spice bitters, and applewood smoke comes pouring out the top when you lift up the top glass. Very cool, very tasty. We also ordered and split the burrata, brussel sprouts and the beef short rib on toast. All fantastic dishes.
Burrata on toast.
Romantic little spot for the perfect ending to a lovely Sunday. xo

My mom and I always joke that we love to wear our sunglasses no matter where we are, no matter the weather. We love feeling incognito, so that could mean the sunglasses are left on in the grocery store or when it’s raining out and overcast. So, when Sunglass Hut invited me to their Mother’s Day event, I stopped by and checked out their newest styles. I know which pair I want to buy my mom, but I won’t be sharing that here since she reads my blog daily. But I will show you which ones I picked out! I have admired this style from a far for a while now but wasn’t sure I could pull them off. However, after trying them on and wearing them for a day, I’m hooked and so happy I can now add them to my favorite sunglass rotation! xo

Spring Forward with Ted Baker
With all this crazy weather going on, I’ve just tried to hunker down, wear what’s practical when it’s pouring rain outside and get on with the day. But that can take the fun out of fashion and leaves me in usually really dark, monochromatic colors. There is nothing wrong with that (trust me – I love an all black look) but seeing that the weather is perking up a bit and is supposed to be in the mid 60s all next week, my mood has began to change. That said, it was perfect timing when Ted Baker asked me to style a few pieces from their SS14 collection, especially since they are known for bright colors, which immediately got me out of my funk. After checking out the full collection (there were gorgeous prints galore!) I settled on this cobalt blue dress with some lime accents for a pretty color blocking ensemble. I love this look because it’s punchy, bright and is perfect for a warm spring night out on the town!

Euphoria by Calvin Klein
Seeing as my mother lives all the way across the country in Seattle, we sadly aren’t going to be together this coming Sunday, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about her of course, and what I would do if we were together. A typical morning on Mother’s Day in our house would be spent eating a homemade breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon and coffee. Afterward, we would most likely take a walk around the lake with Barney. I wish I could be with my family this weekend, but then yesterday when I received this gorgeous orchid and Calvin Klein perfume, it prompted me to photograph it and share it on the blog as a little online tribute to my wonderful mother.
I plan on giving my mom this beautiful orchid and perfume when she visits in June (can you take an orchid on a plane?!) but for those of you that have your mothers close by, you can celebrate this Sunday and receive a stunning complimentary orchid plant of your own with any large spray purchase from the euphoria fragrance collection at Macy’s and Macys.com. Share your gift with #euphoriaformoms.
