Hat Obsessed: Janessa Leone
I just ordered this sturdy woven straw hat by Janessa Leone from Shopbop, and although it’s definitely on the pricier side, I know that I will wear this hat a bunch this spring and summer, so in my mind, the cost per wear evens out in the end…

Shopbop Friends & Family Sale!
Vacation Dreaming Part 2: Shopbop Sale!
So remember how I was wishing I had a warm weather trip coming up in the near future? Well my dreams came true and at the end of next week I am heading to Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and St. Maarten with my good friend Krystal, courtesy of Celebrity Cruises!
I am very excited, but admittedly a little nervous only because I have never been on a proper cruise before. I grew up spending time on boats, but was always with my family versus thousands of people, and we were never out far out at sea and could get to a harbor very quickly if necessary. So even though I have a bit of anxiety around the idea of boarding a gigantic cruise ship, I think it’s mainly because I am not quite sure what to expect, you know? Have you guys been on one before? What did you think?
Regardless, I am still super excited to have a week away with a good friend where there will be ample time to relax, spend time by the pool catching up on books I’ve started and haven’t finished, and of course experience places I haven’t been before! It’s about a week and a half away so I am definitely starting to think about what I want to bring with me on this excursion, which is why Shopbop’s sale couldn’t come at a better time!
I’ve pulled together some of my favorite warm weather items below – some that are more wish list items and some that I definitely plan on ordering ASAP. But take a look and hopefully you guys snag some awesome sale items as well. Just make sure to use the code BIGEVENT16 at checkout!

Vacation Dreaming: In Need Of A Warm Weather Trip
(Me in Spain two summers ago.)
It’s been pretty dreary and rainy here in New York, which has me yearning to take a warm weather trip somewhere. Not only is it cold and wet here, I also just did a really fun bathing suit photo shoot for a magazine yesterday, so I think the combination of being super tan (the beauty team used an awesome tanning spray called Bondi Sands) and wearing swimsuits all day (my new favorite brand is Gottex) really had me jonesing to get out of town and head to a tropical location.
That said, I still have a bit of time before heading to warmer climates, so instead I thought I would do a roundup of my current favorite beachy items to put on my wishlist until then.

Outfit Details:
On me: Illesteva Sunglasses | J.Crew Striped Turtleneck | Forever 21 Sweater (similar) | Zara Jeans (old) | Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Rich Fig | On my Mom: Illesteva Sunglasses | J.Crew Striped Top | Max Studio Sweater (via T.J. Maxx) | Anthropologie Jeans
Everyone is always telling me that I am the spitting image of my Mom and that we have the same mannerisms and personality. Well, seeing that she is not only a beautiful and stylish woman, she is also one of the most kind, generous and funny people I know, so I take that as a major compliment! I feel so lucky to call her my Mother and best friend.
Isn’t she the cutest?! I wanted to treat her to an early Christmas present and had recently been sent a gift card from T.J. Maxx that was sent to me with the intent to treat a loved one who I felt deserve a special gift. I immediately thought of my Mom, so we drove over to a nearby T.J. Maxx and ended up find the most perfect gray cashmere sweater for her. Seattle tends to be pretty damp and chilly throughout the winter, so this cozy little number was just the piece to add to her wardrobe.
She has been wearing it nonstop since we got it and has been layering a cute striped top underneath it for fun. I took a cue from her and decided to dress up in a similar outfit. I told her to put on a pair of my sunglasses so we could match and we headed out to the front stoop to take a few photos for fun.(Thanks Dad!)
If you get a second, check out T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods’ new holiday campaign, Bringing Back the Holidays, which focuses on shopping for people, not for gifts. I love that it’s more about about finding that thoughtful present that will make for an incredibly meaningful moment this holiday, which was exactly what it was for my Mom and me. :) xo
