The Kipling Diaries: skipping town
Zara Jacket, Top, Leggings and Boots / Coach Watch (c/o) / Delphine Kipling Bag (c/o)
After living in New York for eight years and working for myself for the past four, I find that taking breaks from the city helps me feel more grounded and centered when things get a little too hectic. So, my remedy tends to be to head home to Seattle as much as I can, and because of my flexible schedule it allows me to see my family and friends more often than not, which is pretty great in my mind. :)
And speaking of flying home, I am headed to Washington on tomorrow for a quick reprieve and am bringing this handy Kipling cross-body with me. I love a trusty and wearable bag that can withstand the daily wear and tear I impose on it since I tend to be fairly hard on my bags – poor things. Plus when traveling, everyone needs a bag with easy-to-get-to compartments for necessary items, such as a place for their licence, debit card, phone and keys, that you can grab at a moments notice. Check out all the other great cross body bags that Kipling as has to offer, here!

For those of us just joining us, my good friend and fellow blogger, Helena, and I teamed up with Chevrolet to test drive the new 2013 Chevy Malibu and headed up state for a little road trip (read all about it here!) to try out this cute little cherry-red car. You can read all about our trip here, but if you’d like to take a look, here is a little photo montage from our trip upstate!

Malibu Style
Helena and I teamed up with Chevrolet in conjunction with their new 2013 Chevy Malibu, and Isaac Mizrahi, who created a capsule collection based on this adorable cherry-red ride. He went all around the country, visiting four different women who acted as his “muses” and gathered up inspiration from their lives and closets to create this collection. I can’t wait to see what he came up with. Luckily we won’t have to wait long, since the show debuting the collection is next week!
You will also be able to check out LivingSocial, which has created a page for Malibu Style, and offers daily deals based on the cities where he met with his “muses”. The collection will go on sale in mid-October, and will be available on LivingSocial Shop, so stay tuned. And don’t forget to watch Isaac in action in these cute videos, here, here and here!
So, to kick off this fun program, Helena and I decided to take the car out for a spin and go on a mini road trip. We settled on Warwick, New York, where we went apple picking, checked out pumpkins for the upcoming holiday and basically just took in the beautiful scenery upstate.
We stayed at one of my favorite B&Bs in the area called, the Inn at Stony Creek. If you ever have a chance to get out of the city, I highly recommend heading to this little gem of a place. The owners are amazing (cooked us customized breakfasts) and the decor and feel is so charming and cozy.
We took the lovely Keiko Lynn with us to take our photos and the three of us had quite the lovely time. Although we were only there two days, we left feeling refreshed and refueled.

My Style Pill x ONA
I would love to take a quick moment to welcome the newest sponsor of the blog, the fantastic camera bag company, ONA! You can read all about them here, but know this…their bags are pure genius, especially for those of us that lug around our SLRs every where we go. I am headed back to Seattle today for the holidays and you know I will be toting this little beauty home with me. More photos of my pretty little bag to come! xo
My Outfit: Puddle Jumping
RayBan Aviator Sunglasses / Charlotte Russe Necklace / Need Supply “Shearling Lined” Jacket / Loft Blouse / ModCloth “Pretty Pleats” Skirt / Aldo Shoes (c/o)
The rain has been coming down here in Seattle, with bouts of sunshine here and there peaking through the clouds, which has made for lovely backdrops and scenic shots. So, when the drizzle took a brief rest, I knew I had to sneak in a few snaps before the drops started up again. The air was brisk enough to wear my new shearling jacket from Need Supply (yay!) but not so cold that I had to wear tights.
Besides loving this cozy new jacket, I am extremely fond of my new midnight-blue, pleated, double-tiered from ModCloth. Whether you dress it up for work with a crisp white button-down, a high pony-tail and Mary Jane heels, or dress it down for brunch with a boxy cropped sweater, a braid and leather flats, I love how classic and feminine the style is, while still remaining versatile and understated. Definitely a new wardrobe staple for me. Check it out here! xoxo

Outfit Remix: The Classic
RayBan Aviators / Gap Faux Fur Stole / Charlotte Russe Necklace and Bracelets / Vintage Belt / Banana Republic Sweater / Vintage Blazer (Mo’s Vintage) / Poetrie “The Catriona Skirt” / ModCloth Tights / Aldo Shoes (c/o)
Welcome to remix #2. I saw this blazer on Mo’s Vintage, the sister etsy shop of Clyde’s Rebirth, and immediately knew I had to have it. When a good blazer comes along, you just have to swoop it up. It arrived in the mail wrapped in a vintage scarf (such a sweet touch) with a sweet note from Merl, the owner. Isn’t it the most perfect shade of red?
For this remix challenge I decided to keep the tights the same throughout in order to show how versatile polka-dots can be regardless of your style. As for the skirt, I love how there is a pretty purple in the plaid, but I decided to use contrasting colors such as maroon, blue, and beige as complimentary accents to change things up a bit.
P.S. Check out how Merl wore her feathers from my sponsor, Plume Your Hair! xoxo
